To start off the giveaway series, I thought I'd offer up one of my own pieced applique sets, ready to use on your Christmas craft projects!
This set includes one tree and one stocking cut from 2"strips of 3 different fabrics. The tree measures 9" tall by 7.5" wide, and the stocking 8.5" tall by 7" wide. Each was pieced, drawn and cut by me, and is backed with Steam A Seam, so all you have to do is iron and go! Add some decorative stitching if you want!
This will be an easy giveaway to start off with: just leave me a comment below about one of your favorite holiday memories - doesn't matter what holiday it is, just a favorite memory! And as will always be the case in this series, you can earn more entries by leaving a link to places you've made a shout out about this giveaway - Twitter, Facebook, blog, networking sites, etc. The more shout outs, the more entries!
This giveaway will be open from today through 11:59pm Saturday, 10/3/09. The winner will be announced here on the blog on Sunday, 10/4/09.
I can't wait to hear your memories! Amy

Welcome to the first week of the SewArtsy 12 Weeks of Christmas!
Each year I am overcome with a renewal of the truth that handmade gifts are indeed the best gifts to both give and receive. No matter what the gift is, when I know someone has spent their time, and poured their love and talent into an item, I am so very appreciative. I spend time looking at the details, pondering the process, and thinking about the hands that made it. I’m reminded of the hands that made my cherished birthday and Christmas gifts from my childhood – sewn, crocheted, glued and painted – and hope that my own handmade items are loved by those who receive them.
As will be the case each week, this morning I am announcing this week’s SewArtsy Deal of the Week. This week I would like to offer all of my readers and fans a BOGO sale for the entire SewArtsy Etsy shop! Choose any item, and get any other item of the same or lesser cost free. This BOGO deal will be applied to any purchase made from my Etsy shop 9/28-10/4. A refund will be made to your Paypal account for the purchase price of the lesser cost item. Happy beginning to the holiday shopping season!
Come back again on Thursday, when I’ll be hitting you up with a tutorial for you all to use this season for your own gift-giving.
Happy Monday! Amy

The start of fall is the time of year I start thinking about the holidays – getting the family ready, getting the house ready, knowing that we have3 birthdays, an anniversary, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years on the horizon. I start thinking seriously about gift-giving, getting the house decorated, mixing up some fabulous new and traditional recipes, and starting and keeping family traditions.
Want to join me this holiday season? Tune in here at the SewArtsy blog each week for the next 12 weeks, starting tomorrow for the SewArtsy 12 Weeks of Christmas. It will be a fun time of great deals, fun tutorials and recipes, and some sweet giveaways from my “handmade” friends!
Happy Sunday, and see you all tomorrow! Amy

I've been quiet lately getting the kids settled into their new school and sports schedules. But I wanted to give a couple of quick SewArtsy updates.
I've finally opened up my ArtFire store, and you'll see I'm already jumping the holiday gun a bit with the new badge over to the right. Click it to link directly to my new store.
And on other holiday news: tune in this weekend to get a heads up on my upcoming 12 Weeks of Christmas. I'm excited to be able to offer you sweet deals in my Etsy and ArtFire shops, superb giveaways from some of my "handmade" friends, and tutorials and recipes to help you get your holiday crafting and gift-giving underway. I'm hoping you'll have as much fun participating as I will!
