He made math interesting, and he was willing to stay after class for hours to help anyone willing to come in for tutoring. I was years behind in math when I started 7th grade; he got me up to speed. Seriously, kids would move out of her way when she walked down the hallways and avoid passing her classroom. lol.

But I, and I am sure some others, did not keep hold of that image of her always. Once you got to know her... meaning stepping outside of your own teenage universe... we found her to be totally awesome! She was an ex-cop, which explained her air authority. She deeply cared about teaching, which explained her frustration with us kids and our disinterest in proper English skills.

So anyway.... to make a long story short (too late), she called me into her classroom and explained to me that she noticed I was suffering from dyslexia. After eleven years of schooling and only she took the time to notice. With the help of my mom, Ms. Gibson and I would head over to the university after school a few times a week for testing and lessons to help me understand and overcome my troubles. By the time I graduated I was an B to A student.

I still trip up now and then and I am sure Ms. Gibson would be applaud with my grammar. I know she would be proud of me for how far I have come.

Ms. Gibson rocked! I am now an artist/crafter, but I also drive a school bus to pay the bills... and everyday I think of Ms. Gibson and hope the kids I am taking to school are as lucky as I was to have a teacher like her. She is on my top five women roll models. :D

-Stacey
http://stuffforkittyandyou.blogspot.com/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7456091522921027199.post-13430129146759353422009-08-02T11:39:47.066-04:002009-08-02T11:39:47.066-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7456091522921027199.post-73361850612225369222009-08-02T09:26:14.462-04:002009-08-02T09:26:14.462-04:00I have posted a picture with the link back to here...I have posted a picture with the link back to here on the sidebar of my give away blog.
http://audreysgiveaways.blogspot.com

I see you have my button!!
